Starting Keto for Hashimoto’s and Adrenal Fatigue: Day 5 and a Cyst Removal Update

Hello, everyone!

It’s Day 5 on my keto journey, an experience I embarked on to help alleviate symptoms of Hashimoto’s Disease and adrenal fatigue. Today, I want to share with you not only my initial thoughts on the diet but also an update on a recent health scare.

The Keto Diet and Me

Switching to a ketogenic diet was not a decision I made lightly. After extensive research and discussions with my doctor, we decided to give it a try as a means to potentially lessen the symptoms associated with Hashimoto’s Disease and adrenal fatigue. For those unfamiliar, the keto diet focuses on high fat, moderate protein, and very low carbohydrates. This shift in eating habits is supposed to help the body enter a state of ketosis where it burns fat for fuel instead of sugars.

The first few days were challenging. I encountered the typical symptoms of the "keto flu" – a bit of brain fog, lethargy, and yes, some cravings that made me question my life choices! However, I'm already noticing some subtle improvements in my energy levels and a decrease in my usual morning sluggishness. I’m optimistic that these are signs of my body adapting and potentially beneficial changes happening internally.

An Unexpected Surgery

Amidst these dietary changes, I underwent an outpatient procedure yesterday to remove a cyst that initially presented as a potential breast cancer scare. The days leading up to the surgery were fraught with anxiety. Fortunately, the procedure went smoothly, and thankfully, it was confirmed to be benign.

The experience of walking into surgery, even for something minor and non-cancerous, really puts things into perspective. I was reminded of the importance of health, the support of friends and loved ones, and the expertise of medical professionals.

Moving Forward

Recovering from the cyst removal while adjusting to a new diet might seem like a lot to handle, but I am taking it one day at a time. I am supported by an amazing medical team, and I'm closely monitoring my body’s responses with my doctor.

To those also battling Hashimoto’s or considering the keto diet for health reasons, I hope my journey can offer you insights or comfort in knowing you are not alone. We all have our unique health challenges, and sometimes, it’s about finding what works best for our bodies.

Thank you for following along on my health journey. Here’s to better days ahead, filled with health, healing, and happiness!
